Welcome to the first round of the Gen Fic Swap! The major steps for this round will be nominations to determine what fandoms and characters are included, sign-ups, the writing period, collection reveal, and author reveal. The exchange will be hosted at AO3; updates and whatnot will be posted here or at our mirrored Livejournal community.

July 3-12: Fandom and character nominations
July 15-25: Sign-ups
July 28: Assignments go out
Sept 21: Assignments due
Sept 28: Collection revealed
Oct 4: Authors revealed

Are you going to change this to a community rather than a journal? Because I don't think we can join a personal journal, although we can subscribe to it.

I hadn't been planning on it because of the subscription option - that was the main problem with LJ, was that they wouldn't let you subscribe without also giving access. I'm clueless about this sort of thing though (as I've proven) so what would be the benefit of a community rather than personal journal here?

Well, I've only run one gift exchange community here, and it's a small single fandom one that's not run through AO3. We did all of matching by hand ( because small) and people posted to the community in a moderation queue or to a post for people without journals with an anonymous, screened before the reveal comment. I had a co-mod, too, and it was easier for us both to post in a community.

Matching and posting is all going to be done via AO3. This journal is for posting announcements, etc.
